The spirit of worship, fellowship, and spiritual renewal filled the air on Sunday, 1st March 2026, as youths from across the Diocese of Mombasa gathered at ACK Mombasa Memorial Cathedral for the Kenya Anglican Youth Organization (KAYO) Prayer Day and the official launch of the 2026 Theme of the Year: "Christ at the Center."
The much-anticipated event brought together vibrant young believers for a full day dedicated to prayer, praise, reflection, and recommitment to a Christ-centered life.
The day began at 10:00 AM with the arrival of youths at the Youth Sanctuary, where the congregation assembled for a Holy Communion Service. The service was led by the Diocesan Youth Officer (DYO), Rev. Kevin Olang, who guided the youths into a reverent atmosphere of worship and thanksgiving.
During the service, Rev. Olang delivered a powerful and thought-provoking sermon centered on the theme "Christ at the Center." Drawing from Scripture, he reminded the youths that Christ must remain the foundation of every aspect of their lives, guiding their decisions, shaping their character, and strengthening their faith journey.
With heartfelt prayers, Scripture readings, and the sharing of Holy Communion, the service created a moment of deep spiritual reflection. The message challenged the congregation to keep Christ at the core of their ambitions, relationships, ministries, and daily walk with God.
The Holy Communion Service concluded at 1:00 PM, after which the congregation enjoyed a delicious lunch fellowship. The meal offered a warm opportunity for the youths to interact, reconnect with friends from different youth churches, and strengthen the bonds of Christian fellowship.
Following the lunch break, the youths proceeded to the Main Sanctuary for the Afternoon Session of the KAYO Prayer Day and the Official Launch of the Theme of the Year.
The atmosphere quickly came alive as the ACK Mombasa Memorial Cathedral Youth Praise & Worship Team led the congregation into a vibrant time of praise. Their powerful and uplifting songs stirred the hearts of the congregation, creating an environment filled with joy, unity, and the presence of God.
One of the highlights of the afternoon session was the introduction of the various youth churches that had gathered from across the Diocese of Mombasa. Each group was warmly welcomed, celebrating the unity and diversity of the Anglican youth community.
Following the introductions, the congregation was once again led into another impactful session of spirit-filled praise and worship, with voices lifted high in thanksgiving and devotion.
The climax of the afternoon came with the official unveiling and launch of the 2026 KAYO Theme of the Year - "Christ at the Center."
The moment served as a call for every young believer present to renew their commitment to placing Christ at the heart of their lives. The theme emphasizes a life rooted in Christ, encouraging youths to align their priorities, ministries, and personal growth with the teachings and example of Jesus Christ.
The launch was received with great excitement and enthusiasm, marking the beginning of a year in which youths across the diocese will intentionally focus on living Christ-centered lives.
The KAYO Prayer Day and Theme Launch, which concluded at 5:30 PM, was more than just an event - it was a spiritual milestone. Through prayer, worship, fellowship, and the Word of God, the gathering reminded every youth present of their calling to stand firm in faith and to boldly live out the Gospel.
As the youths departed, they carried with them not only memories of a joyful day of fellowship but also a renewed spiritual charge - to ensure that in everything they do, Christ remains at the center.
